Cartoon’s Little Genius 2010
“Il disegno diventa animazione”
Il Premio Cartoon’s Little Genius 2010 – “Il disegno diventa animazione”, all’interno della Notte Europea dei Ricercatori 2010, è promosso dalla Regione Lazio – Assessorato Cultura, Arte e Sport – e ha l’obiettivo di caratterizzare in modo inedito e divertente la partecipazione dei bambini, attraverso il linguaggio dell’animazione.
L’iniziativa vuole essere un “valore aggiunto” allo spazio, già molto ampio, dedicato ai più piccoli nell’ambito della manifestazione.
Ogni classe che parteciperà alla competizione presenterà dei disegni dai quali saranno realizzati, con la collaborazione degli stessi bambini concorrenti e grazie a tecnici specializzati, animazioni in tempo reale e, successivamente, CD Rom.
Un’apposita Commissione esaminatrice, composta da rappresentanti della Regione Lazio e dell’Associazione Frascati Scienza nonché da insegnanti delle scuole elementari, selezionerà i più originali per idea e i più completi rispetto alla ministoria rappresentata. I vincitori (15 classi) saranno premiati al termine della cerimonia di inaugurazione della Notte dei Ricercatori 2010.

The Cartoon’s Little Genius Award 2010 – “The drawing is animation”, in the European Researchers’ Night 2010 is sponsored by the Lazio Region – Department of Culture, Arts and Sports, and wants to stimulate the language of the animation in a new way in order to characterize, in a funny way, children’s participation.
The initiative aim to be a “value added” to the space dedicated to children during the event.
With the collaboration of the children competitors and thanks to technicians, animations in real time and CD Rom of drawings will be created.
A special examining board, composed of a representatives of the Lazio Region, teachers of primary schools and Frascati Science Association will select the most original idea. The winners (15 classes) will be awarded after the inauguration ceremony of the Researchers’ Night 2010.
Dialoghi di scienza Telethon
Un gioco aperto a tutti per discutere sulle malattie genetiche e sulla ricerca scientifica
Che cosa sono le malattie genetiche? Qual è il loro impatto sulla vita di chi ne è affetto? E ancora, quanto è difficile studiarle e trovare le risorse per farlo, soprattutto rispetto a patologie molto più diffuse?
A chiunque si sia posto queste domande, ma anche a chi non ci avesse mai pensato e fosse semplicemente incuriosito, 
Telethon da appuntamento, a Frascati, il 24 settembre dalle 17 alle 20, al bar “Belvedere” e il 25 settembre dalle 17,00 alle 21,00 lungo la Passeggiata, per l’iniziativa “Dialoghi di scienza”. Con la guida del personale Telethon, il pubblico sarà invitato a informarsi e a discutere su tematiche legate alle malattie genetiche e ai progressi della ricerca scientifica relativamente a queste gravi e rare patologie. Attraverso vere e proprie carte da gioco, i partecipanti potranno rendersi conto di come la ricerca scientifica sulle malattie genetiche presenti difficoltà particolari e avranno, inoltre, la possibilità di esprimere la propria opinione al riguardo.A game open to everybody to discuss genetic diseases and scientific research
What are genetic diseases? Which are their impact on those who are affected? How it’s difficult to find money to study them?
To anyone who wants an answer to these questions, and to those who had never thought about this, Telethon organizes, in Frascati, on September 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on September 25th, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. the event Dialogues about Science.
Conducted by Telethon staff, visitors will be invited to discuss about some open issues related to genetic diseases and to the action of scientific research about these.
Through playing cards, participants will understand the difficult of scientific research about genetic diseases and will have the opportunity to express their point of views. (more…)

L’acqua è un bene semplice, ma prezioso.
La sua importanza nel mondo è sotto gli occhi di tutti, ma la grande ricchezza dell’acqua è conferita dalla sua composizione. Se decidiamo di comprendere cosa nasconda la sua molecola e perché le sue caratteristiche la rendano fonte di vita, le cose cambiano completamente.“As simple as drinking a glass of water.” It is really true.
The water is a simple but valuable
The importance of water in the world is obvious to everyone, but the great wealth of water is because of its composition.
If we decide to understand what its molecule hides and because its characteristics render it a source of life, things change completely.
Infact, although its chemical formula is simple and known, the water has a number of special properties hard to imagine .
Leonardo da Vinci wrote: “If happen to you to deal with water, consult experience first and then the reason. ”
More simply, when we investigated the characteristics of water, even if your name is Leonardo Da Vinci, it is very difficult to theorize the results without first having the opportunity to conduct experiments on it.
So, in the case of water, it’s necessary to look first and then to theorize.
For this reason the LUDIS people (young graduates in chemistry), lead a performance, lasting two hours, that has already been a great success in the elementary and middle schools in Rome.
How can we get water from a bottle of grappa? Why a balloon full of water does not burst if we put it under a flame? How can we break water? Why the ice floats? Why the sea is never completely frozen? A soap bubble. … just a game or something more? Why a so small molecule remains liquid even at very high temperatures? Water can remain liquid when immersed in liquid nitrogen at -170 degrees? Why life, for its evolution, chose the water?
These and many other simple questions, hide a world of surprises and important concepts. If they are explained through experiments, became easily understood.
The lesson is divided in some fun experiments that allow everyone, (even who has a very low level of “chemical knowledge”) to understand phenomena that seem to belong more to the sphere of magic than to the one of Science.
Enjoy, at the end of the lesson, a liquid nitrogen ice cream, will be the right reward for those who decided to participate actively in the show.
