Pisa (EGO-VIRGO) - Frascati Scienza

In occasione della “Notte dei Ricercatori”, organizzata dalla Commissione Europea per il 24 Settembre 2010, EGO, l’Osservatorio Gravitazionale Europeo, presso Cascina (Pisa), apre le sue porte al pubblico per due giorni di scienza per tutti. La manifestazione è coordinata con la “Settimana della Scienza e Notte dei Ricercatori”, organizzata da Frascati Scienza, dall’Erasmus Medical Center di Rotterdam e dal CERN di Ginevra

Cosa fanno i ricercatori? Li vedrete al lavoro nella sala di controllo di Virgo.
Cosa sono le onde gravitazionali? Lo capirete visitando l’interferometro Virgo ed i suoi bracci perpendicolari di 3 km.
E’ utile la ricerca? Lo potrete chiedere ai ricercatori bevendo assieme al Caffè della Scienza.
Come lavorava Galileo? Guarderete voi stessi le stelle con riproduzioni dei suoi cannocchiali.
La ricerca dice il vero? Due attori lo reciteranno. Voi ne discuterete con scienziati, filosofi, giornalisti.

Venerdì 24 Settembre

Visite guidate: 3 turni da 50 persone: 15:00, 16:30, 18:00 – Ogni visita durerà circa 2 ore con leggera sovrapposizione temporale con la precedente/seguente. Programma: seminario introduttivo (30’), sala di controllo (in data taking con collegamento teleconferenza con LIGO), edificio centrale, tunnel, laboratori.
“Costruisci il tuo inteferometro”: 3 turni da 8-10 ragazzi: 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 : Ogni gruppo monterà il suo interferometro (cacciaviti, trapano, colla….), lo farà funzionare e lo portera’ in regalo alla sua scuola.
“Osserva il cielo” 21:00-24:00: Osservazioni astronomiche guidate dagli astrofili della associazione Galileo Galilei con strumenti moderni, forniti anche dalla Limonaia.
“Fai Galileo” 21:00-24:00: Osservazioni astronomiche guidate dagli astrofili della associazione Galileo Galilei con i Galileoscope, riproduzioni del cannocchiale di Galileo, con prestazioni simili.
“Caffe’ della Scienza” – 21:00-24:00: un ricercatore ad ogni tavolo sarà pronto a rispondere alle vostre domande sorseggiando una bevanda insieme a voi.

Sabato 25 Settembre

Visite guidate: 3 turni da 50 persone: 15:00, 16:30, 18:00 – Ogni visita durera’ circa 2 ore con leggera sovrapposizione temporale con la precedente/seguente. At the occasion of the “Researchers’ Night”, organized by the European Commission on September 24, 2010, EGO (European Gravitational Observatory at Cascina, Pisa) opens the doors to the wide public for two days of science for everybody. The event is coordinated with the 5^th “Week of Science and European Researchers’ Night” organized by Frascati Scienza, the Erasmus Medical Center of Rotterdam and the CERN of Geneva.

You will see researchers in action in the Virgo Control Room.
You will learn about gravitational waves visiting the 3 km arms of the Virgo interferometer.
Research: is that useful? Ask researchers drinking together at Science Café.
You will experience Galileo’s work observing the sky through telescopes performing as the old “cannocchiale”, in comparison with modern amateur telescopes.
Does research tell us the truth? Two actors will play a dialogue to start the debate between a scientist, a philosopher, a journalist and the public.

Friday, September 24^th

Guided tours of the Observatory: 3 groups of 50 persons starting at 15:00, 16:30, 18:00 – Each turn will last about 2 hours. Program: introductory talk (30’), control room (data taking with teleconference connection with LIGO, US), main building, arm tunnel, laboratories.
“Build your interferometer”: 3 groups of 8-10 students each at: 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 – Every group will assemble his interferometer (screwdrivers, drill, glue….) and will put it in operation. The working instrument will be donated to the school for further experiments.
“Observe the sky” 21:00-24:00: Astronomical observations with modern hobby telescopes guided by amateur astronomers of the Galileo Galilei Pisa association.
“Play Galileo” 21:00-24:00: Astronomical observations with telescopes mimiking Galileo’s “cannocchiale”, guided by amateur astronomers of the Galileo Galilei Pisa association.
“Science Café ” – 21:00-24:00: a researcher at each table will be ready to answer your questions, sharing a drink with you.

A l’occasion de la “Nuit des Chercheurs”, organisée le 24 septembre 2010 par la Commission Européenne, EGO, l’Observatoire Européen Gravitationnel, près de Cascina (province de Pise) ouvre ses portes au public pour deux journées de science pour tous. Que font les chercheurs? Vous les verrez au travail dans la salle de contrôle de Virgo
Que sont les ondes gravitationnelles ? Vous le comprendrez en visitant l’interféromètre Virgo et ses bras de 3 km
A quoi sert la recherche? Vous pourrez le demander aux chercheurs avec qui vous boirez au Café de la Science
Comment travaillait Galilée? Vous observerez vous aussi les étoiles avec des reproductions de ses lunettes
La recherche dit-elle la vérité? Après l’intervention de deux acteurs, vous en discuterez avec des scientifiques, des philosophes et des journalists.

Au programme: conférence d’introduction (30′), salle de contrôle (relevé de données en liaison par téléconférence avec LIGO), bâtiment central, tunnel, laboratoires
“Construis ton interféromètre”: 3 groupes de 8 à 10 collégiens (14h, 16h, 18h): Chaque groupe fabriquera son interféromètre (tournevis, perceuse, colle…), le fera fonctionner et l’emportera en cadeau-souvenir pour son école
“Observe le ciel”: De 21h à 24h observations astronomiques guidées par les astronomes amateurs de l’Association Galileo Galilei avec des instruments modernes fournis par la Limonaia
“Fais comme Galilée”: De 21h à 24h observations astronomiques guidées par les astronomes amateurs de l’Association Galileo Galilei avec des reproductions des lunettes de Galilée, ayant les mêmes performances
“Café de la Science”: De 21h à 24h à chaque table un chercheur sera prêt à répondre à vos questions en dégustant une boisson avec vous

Samedi 25 Septembre

Ter gelegenheid van de “Nacht van de Onderzoekers”, georganiseerd door de Europese Commissie op 24 september 2010, opent EGO (European Gravitational Observatory te Cascina, Pisa) zijn deuren voor het publiek voor 2 dagen van wetenschap voor iedereen. Vrijdag 24 september

Rondleiding op het observatorium: 3 groepen van 50 man, beginnend om 15:00, 16:30 en 18:00. Elke rondleiding duurt ongeveer 2 uur. Programma: inleidende presentatie (30 min), bezoek aan de control room (zie hoe data wordt verzameld en zie de live-verbinding met de control room van LIGO in de VS), hoofdgebouw, tunnel en laboratoriums.
Bouw je eigen interferometer: 3 groepen van 8 tot 10 scholieren, beginnend om 15:00, 16:30 en 18:00. Elke groep bouwt zijn eigen interferometer en brengt hem aan de praat. Het werkende instrument kan worden meegenomen naar school voor verdere experimenten.
Bekijk de hemel, 21:00-24:00: Astronomische observaties met moderne telescopen, onder leiding van amateur-astronomen van de Galileo Galilei groep uit Pisa.
Speel voor Galileo, 21:00-24:00: astronomische observaties met replica’s van Galileo’s telescoop.
Science café: 21:00-24:00 stel vragen aan wetenschappers onder het genot van een drankje.
